Everyday we see more and more media coverage involving Guanacaste. But what makes this northern province of Costa Rica such a hotspot?
Covering the most land mass of all seven provinces, Guanacaste has activity from one corner to the next.
Let’s face it though – the area most dominant throughout media conversations is the Papagayo Peninsula.
Since the Four Seasons built their flagship resort and golf, movie stars and royalty from all over the world have been coming to see what the buzz is all about. The area is undeniably extravagant with it’s surrounding natural beauty.
Costa Rica has long been quietly absorbing the lion’s share of retirees from North America. Many Canadians and Americans alike are retiring in Costa Rica. And the most popular location for many of them is Guanacaste.
Although it is the least populated province, the land mass is the greatest. Additionally, the Guanacaste coastal areas have become developed with one target market in mind – the luxury tourism market.
For the most part, areas aside from Guancaste do not cater to the higher end all-inclusive traveller looking to be pampered in some big brand hotel and resort. However, this is not to say there isn’t a market for it.
The region has been consistently building up facilities to cater to foreign tourism including the Costa Rica medical tourism sector and as previously mentioned…the luxury Costa Rica vacation seeker.
But the question was…”What Makes Guanacaste Such A Gem?”
Well to put it to you frankly…it’s loaded with all the right ingredients to suit even the most selective of tourists.
Whether you are in to scaling active volcanoes, swimming in rainforest waterfalls, surfing Witch’s Rock or just want to relax with a round of golf followed by sunset drinks – Guanacaste has it all in spades.
Not to mention that the Guanacaste region boast some of the finest beaches in Central America including the world famous Playa Conchal.
