Guanacaste Tourism Surges

Guanacaste Tourism

Guanacaste, Costa Rica has quietly become an international hot spot. While many consider Paris, Rome, Sydney, South Africa, the Caribbean, and Rio de Janeiro to be top picks, the hard to pronounce Latin providence of Guanacaste is rising in popularity every day. As recognizable as San Jose is to the rest of the world, the providence of Guanacaste has become the #1 searched term of all destinations in Costa Rica. Wow! That’s pretty impressive.

Though traditionally known for its agriculture and livestock production, Guanacaste has transformed into an epicenter of international tourism. Its uniqueness has forced both natives and newcomers to reevaluate the one-dimensional label that has previously been slapped on its identity. Its sand beaches, turquoise blue water, lush jungles, and fresh fruit are just a few of the many pleasures Guanacaste has to offer.

While the world is plentiful of exotic resort destinations from one corner of the earth to another, it is no exaggeration that ‘Guanacaste Is The New Paradise‘. So, for all the naysayers who never thought this time would come, Guanacaste has arrived and it is here to stay. As many nations struggle to recover from the worldwide economic crisis, Costa Rica boasts an impressive increase of 7.8% in international arrivals. According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, the nation registered above the 5% world average set by the UN World Tourism Organization. Quiet as kept, Guanacaste has played a significant role in the nation’s tourism statistics.

With the recently approved $30 million international airport expansion, direct flights from the U.S., U.K., Canada and Europe puts Guanacaste on the map as a major contender on the world stage. Much like a domino effect, the tourism boom has resulted in a substantial increase in infrastructure, industry and employment. Not only are tourists rushing to new pastures, natives are migrating further north from San Jose metropolitan areas for promising employment opportunities.

The boom has attracted financial institutions, world-renown medical facilities, hospitality services and a thriving real estate industry. With new structures being erected every day, there appears to be no end in sight for this up-and-coming tourist hotspot. The opening of well-known supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, gas stations, car rental and shopping/office center chains is an indication of the providence’s economic growth and vitality.

So, the next time you think about getting-away from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life, make the obvious choice – Choose Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
